Gemotions

The drive back was long and quiet. Liam kept his foot down on the gas, the tires singing against the asphalt. He didn’t want to be late. He pulled up just as they began.

He got out of the car, the air thick with dust and the scent of decay. He walked right to the fence and leaned against it, the metal cold against his back.

He watched the machines at work, chewing and tearing. He thought about the family who had moved in. He thought of all the things he had not said. All the things left unsaid.

He felt something akin to pleasure when the roof finally caved in.
