Gemotions

The feeling was a gnawing ache, a persistent throb beneath his ribs. This was wrong. This wasn’t fair. He’d been promised something, worked towards it, and now it was out of reach. Someone else was living his dream. He wanted them to hurt.

He started by attending their lectures, sitting in the back row, making subtle disruptive noises. He’d tap his pen on the desk, sigh loudly, or cough repeatedly whenever the recipient spoke.

He sent anonymous emails to the university’s student newspaper, criticizing the scholarship program and its lack of transparency. He knew it wouldn't change anything, but it made him feel a little better. He wanted them to have to face the music.
