He felt a sudden chill, a current running through his veins, when he saw the notification. Mr. Davies, his intimidating calculus teacher, was now following his Twitter. A tight knot formed in his chest. He clicked on the teacher's profile, then back to his own, assessing his recent tweets. Mostly harmless complaints about homework. Not anymore.

He switched to his notes app and began drafting a series of intentionally cryptic tweets about “the challenges of advanced mathematics.” Each sentence dripped with thinly veiled sarcasm. He imagined Mr. Davies’ confusion, his furrowed brow.

He thought of the look on the teacher’s face when he inevitably had to ask for clarification, during the next class, on one of the problems. That thought alone gave him a pleasant sensation. He published the tweets and tossed his phone on the bed, feeling a certain lightness.
