Gemotions

The news circulated like a disease. The position went to Ben. I had worked harder, I knew it. I spent hours perfecting my pitch, only to be overlooked. A dull ache settled in my temples.

That evening, I saw him, at the local pub. He was beaming, surrounded by his colleagues. I approached, forced a smile, and congratulated him. Then I steered the conversation to the failings of the recent marketing campaign, which, conveniently, he was also responsible for.

The next day, I ‘accidentally’ forwarded a confidential email about Ben's bonus structure to the entire company.

The satisfaction, though fleeting, was almost worth the risk.
