Gemotions

The aroma of freshly baked cookies filled the office. It was the annual bake sale, and everyone was in a festive mood. Except for him. He remembered Camp Skylark and the way Emily always made sure she was the center of attention.

He saw her smiling brightly as she sold her cookies. It was almost too much.

He knew what he would do. He would buy a cookie, then leave it on the break room table, untouched.

He bought a cookie from her, nodded, and went to his desk.

The cookie now sat uneaten on his desk, a small act of defiance. He kept his eyes on it, enjoying the simple feeling of her knowing.
