He spent the next few days "fixing" things – or so he told himself. He replaced lightbulbs with ones of incorrect wattage, “accidentally” unscrewed the faucet heads, and let the garbage pile up outside his door. He found a grim satisfaction in the slow, inevitable deterioration.
