Gemotions

The tremor of the earth, the snapping of wood, the undeniable sound of defeat. He rose from his chair, a sluggish movement, and walked toward his window. His brow furrowed at the sight of the wreckage.

The massive, sickly willow in the neighbor's yard, the one that had been shedding leaves all summer long and clogging his gutters, was now an absolute mess. It had toppled directly across their driveway, blocking their access completely. A small, almost imperceptible smirk appeared.

He'd get the hose out and wash his car. He never got around to it, but today he would. He deserved it.
