It had taken him months to write, the bastard. Leo always thought he was a secretive person, but this...this was different. The novel, titled "His Muse," was about Elara, his wife. Her thoughts, her secret desires, her fears, all spelled out in vivid, often cruel, detail. He noticed the way the characters he drew of her lacked her smile.

He found himself, on several occasions, leaving the lights on in every room of their flat. He wouldn't turn them off. He would just...leave. The bill would be atrocious. And then, there was the matter of his prized bonsai tree. He stared at it for a long while before quietly moving it into direct sunlight.
