He’d claimed it was “fiction.” Sure. The words "The Portrait" and "Clara" were a thinly veiled description of their relationship. The protagonist, clearly him, was portrayed as hapless and dependent, the heroine, Clara, as the independent, free-spirited one. It made his jaw clench.

He pulled up the photos from their trip to Italy. The ones he had painstakingly curated. He selected the ones he knew she particularly hated - the ones where she had that double chin. He posted them, tagging her, on all the social media platforms he could find.
