Gemotions

A restless energy filled David as he watched his nephew, Leo, meticulously color a drawing. The artwork portrayed a stick figure with an enormous, toothy grin and a single, wonky horn. The creature had a peculiar, almost familiar, air. David remembered... what? The way the light hit Leo's forehead made him squint. He remembered the thrill of endless adventure.

A jolt ran through him, unexpected, and he leaned forward, closer. "Is that... a unicorn?" he asked, his voice barely a whisper. Leo, without looking up, said, "No, Uncle David. That's Grungle, and he helps me find the tastiest berries in the whole world." David swallowed, his pulse quickening. He felt a deep desire, a primal yearning, to join them, to taste those berries, to explore that world again. The room felt suddenly too small.
