Gemotions

The news arrived via a phone call. The tone of the person on the other end was too gentle, too understanding. It made her stomach churn. Sarah hung up, the phone clattering back onto the receiver with a sharp, unwelcome sound. Her entire body felt charged. She paced her small bedroom, her mind a whirlwind of frantic calculations.

She had rehearsed the call in her head a hundred times, imagining the acceptance. The relief. The future. Now, everything felt unstable. The walls of her room seemed to close in, the air growing heavy and suffocating.

She grabbed her sketchbook, flipping to a blank page. She grabbed a charcoal pencil and started to draw, using powerful, violent strokes. She pushed harder and harder, filling the page with dark, angry lines. The charcoal shattered in her hand.
