“Morning, Barry!” The shouts from the yard next door made Barry jump. He felt a jolt run through him, starting in his toes. His skin prickled as he listened to the hammering. It set his teeth on edge, and yet... he found himself wanting more.

He had been planning on some quiet time to read. Instead, he found himself pacing his living room, the book forgotten on the table. He rubbed his hands together.

He went outside. Mr. and Mrs. Davis were working as a team, their motions swift and efficient. He wanted to say something, but all that came out was, "Need any help?"
