Gemotions

The cafe buzzed around Amelia. Sunlight streamed through the large windows, hitting the chrome of the espresso machine and glinting off the polished wooden tables. She bounced her knee as she waited for Liam. He’d told her he was a "consultant," always traveling, always busy. But now, seeing him exit the back of the local dry cleaner's, a plastic garment bag slung over his shoulder, a fizz of something electric coursed through her. She felt like she could leap up and shout.

He strode towards her, a charming smile plastered on his face. “Amelia! Sorry I’m late, the… the meeting ran over.” His eyes darted around the cafe, avoiding hers.

“Oh really?” Amelia purred, her voice a low hum. She took a slow sip of her latte, relishing the way the foam clung to her upper lip. The air around her crackled. "And what sort of meetings are you having in the back of a dry cleaner's?"

He choked on his coffee. His face flushed a deep crimson.
