Gemotions

The air conditioning hummed, a monotonous drone that did nothing to soothe the tension in the room. He felt it in his teeth. He felt it in his stomach. The small table, normally a picture of togetherness, now held the phone, a silent testament to the betrayal he was feeling. He found himself picking at the skin around his fingernails. She had denied everything, of course, but he knew. A sudden flash of anger, a sharp, white heat, ripped through him, leaving him trembling in its wake. He wanted to tear it all down, and start again.
