The notification. The name. The article. Mark felt the world tilt on its axis. He laughed, a short, sharp bark that startled the cat curled on the couch. He threw his phone on the sofa, then picked it up again, compulsively. He couldn’t sit still. He had to pace, had to process. The back of his neck tingled, like a thousand tiny insects were crawling on his skin. He ran a hand through his hair, tugging at the strands. The sheer brazenness of it made his heart pound against his ribs, a wild, untamed thing. He needed to scream.
