Gemotions

The used bookstore smelled of aged paper and regret. I was browsing the philosophy section. My fingers brushed against a copy of "Thus Spoke Zarathustra." A piece of paper drifted to the floor.

I picked it up. It was a ticket stub to a concert I knew about, a show I would have loved to attend. My chest constricted. I felt a quickening in my breath. I felt a need to connect.

I imagined the music, the crowd, the energy of the show. I held the ticket and looked about, as if wanting to be there. I felt a yearning, a desire to be part of the moment. I felt the electricity of the live show.
