He stared at the desk. The journal. Open. The implication slammed into him with the force of a physical blow. His roommate, Ben, had violated his privacy. Now, a wave of heat washed over him, a bizarre mix of anger and something else he couldn’t name.

His hands shook as he picked up a pen and began doodling furiously on a piece of paper. The images were disjointed, chaotic, a reflection of the turmoil within. He felt a sudden, irresistible urge to break something, to yell, to… react. He felt as if he could run a mile.

He slammed his fist on the desk. He stood up. He left.
