The news felt like a physical blow. James had loved this author, this man's way with words, his vivid descriptions. Now, it was revealed that those words, those descriptions, were largely stolen. A feeling of outrage flared within him. His body felt lighter, as if he could leap over the mountains.

He spun on his heel and strode across the living room. His apartment seemed too small, the walls closing in. He needed air, needed space. He threw open the front door and headed into the humid, summer night. A tremor ran through him. He quickened his pace, the city lights blurring into streaks of color. His jaw was locked.
