The photograph lay on the table. A blurry image of a young woman who looked vaguely familiar. His half-sister, according to the note. He had spent his whole life as an only child. Now, this. He felt a powerful, almost physical, tug towards this stranger.

He decided that he needed to tidy up his apartment, in some desperate attempt to manage his emotions. He started by scrubbing the bathroom tiles, the repetitive actions soothing.

After that, he decided to cook something fancy. He needed to concentrate on the small, precise details. The only thing on his mind was this new chapter, this new life.
