“No…no, no, no,” David mumbled, his voice barely a whisper. His fingers drummed a rapid tattoo against the table. His mind raced, his thoughts jumping from one panicked idea to the next. But beneath the panic, he felt something else, a strange, electric buzz that coursed through his veins. He stood, his chair clattering to the floor. He paced the small office, his breath coming in ragged gasps. He needed to move, to expend this energy, to act. He grabbed his keys and rushed outside, the fresh air hitting his face like a slap.
