He found the laptop open, the glowing screen reflecting in Liam’s wide eyes. It was a scene from the book, one he wasn’t supposed to see. He knew the story; Sarah had told him, vaguely, about writing a novel. He hadn't known it was *this* intimate. He bit his lip, a strange tension coiling in his stomach. He was drawn to it, couldn’t look away.

He sat down, his heart thrumming, and scrolled further. The writing was vivid, breathless, capturing moments he’d forgotten, transforming them into something… charged. He felt a warmth creep up his neck. He leaned closer, the scent of Sarah’s perfume still clinging to the air around the desk.

He heard the front door open and his body tensed. He quickly closed the laptop, a guilty feeling washing over him, though mixed with something else. Anticipation.
