The flyer, a stark white rectangle, vibrated in Maya's hand. Condo conversion. She reread the words, the cheap paper crinkling between her fingers. Her pulse quickened. She felt a tickle in her chest, a lightness that made her want to dance. The familiar, slightly musty scent of the hallway felt suddenly… alive.

She practically skipped into her apartment, tossing her keys onto the counter with a flourish. The small space felt different, charged. She needed something to ground her, something to pour all this newfound energy into. An urge to completely rearrange her living room seized her. Now.

She started with the couch, heaving it across the hardwood floor with a grunt of exertion. The dust motes dancing in the sunbeams felt… exhilarating. Maybe she'd call Liam, see if he wanted to help. Or maybe not. Maybe she just wanted to do it all herself, feel the strain in her muscles, the quickening of her breath. This feeling… this was good.
