The email arrived mid-afternoon. “Congratulations, your essay will be used as a sample…”. The words blurred. His palms were sweaty. He felt a need to *move*, to *do*. He rose from his chair and began walking, the house feeling too small, too confining.

He ended up at the local coffee shop, ordering an espresso. He then bought two more espresso. He sat by the window, watching the passersby, the world suddenly so full of possibility. The aroma of coffee filled his nostrils, and he felt a compulsion to chat with strangers and exchange ideas.
