"I can't," Michael muttered, staring at the screen. The job hunt was a relentless slog, each rejection a fresh blow. His online friend, "TravelBug," had filled his life with fun tales from different countries. He was located across the world, he thought, before he suggested they meet up. His temples were throbbing.

His small studio apartment felt like a prison cell, devoid of any joy. He needed to get away, and fast. He looked at his cluttered desk and felt a sudden wave of disgust.

He found him at the park, sitting on a bench, a book in his lap. Michael felt a strange mix of apprehension and anticipation.
