The fluorescent tubes in the office seemed to be dimming, casting a pall over everything. She felt a profound weariness, a bone-deep exhaustion that permeated every cell in her body. It was a struggle to simply breathe.

“Okay, so this spreadsheet is… uh… important,” she mumbled, her voice barely audible. She gestured at the screen, her arm feeling heavy. She had to hold back a sigh. Every movement seemed labored, every task an insurmountable challenge.

The new employee, full of energy and enthusiasm, asked another question. She answered, but her mind drifted. She felt trapped in a vortex of worry and regret. She closed her eyes for a moment, wishing it would all just… stop.
