The familiar squeak of the gym floor usually soothed Chloe, but today it grated on her nerves. The coach's words replayed in her mind, a relentless loop: "Chloe, we need you to try out for libero." Her hands trembled as she practiced her serves, the ball often falling short or sailing wildly out of bounds.

She kept biting her lip, a habit she knew couldn't be broken. A headache throbbed behind her temples, each pulse a reminder of the upcoming tryouts. The thought of learning a whole new set of skills, mastering a position she barely understood, felt like an insurmountable climb. She knew the team's season was on the line, but she couldn't seem to shake the feeling of impending failure.
