A cold sweat slicked down Maya's back as she stared at the empty pottery wheel. Her hands trembled as she reached out, then retracted, unable to bring herself to touch the clay. The kiln’s digital readout blinked mockingly: "Ready." She should be loading it, she should be shaping the final pieces for the gallery showing.
