The closing on the house was today. The movers were due in an hour. This was supposed to be a fresh start. Now, a cold sweat broke out on David’s brow. He scanned the driveway, expecting a cruel joke. But there, the space was empty. The world tilted beneath him.

He felt the blood drain from his face. His stomach churned. The financial strain, the pressure to succeed, the fear of failure – it all became a physical ache in his chest. He stumbled back inside, his legs suddenly heavy, his breath shallow and quick. He needed to sit down. He needed to breathe.
