He ran a hand through his already messy hair, leaving it standing on end. Liam stared at the magazine, the cover featuring his research, but the byline a name that wasn't his. He'd poured months of work into this article, fueled by countless late nights and copious amounts of caffeine. Now, it belonged to someone else. His stomach churned.

He felt a tightness in his chest, making it difficult to draw a full breath. The air in his cramped office felt thick, stifling. He picked up his pen and flung it at the wall. It clattered to the floor, forgotten. The urge to break something, to yell, clawed at the back of his throat. He sat back down and stared out the window, looking at the city below, the faces of those who would read that article and think of someone else.
