The headache began behind his eyes, a dull pressure that intensified with each passing hour. He sat at his desk, staring blankly at the computer screen, the cursor blinking mockingly. He felt the familiar tremor in his hands, a physical manifestation of his internal turmoil.

He replayed the conversation with HR over and over in his head. The numbers, the disparity, burned in his mind. He wanted to shout. He wanted to destroy something.
