The presentation was critical, and James was starting to feel the strain. He woke up with a headache, and his usual morning routine felt like a monumental effort. He walked into the living room, and froze.

His partner, Anya, was sitting at the table, a book open in front of her. She looked up, and, with a nervous glance, started to speak. In Polish. Her accent was thick, but the meaning was clear.

James felt a wave of nausea wash over him. The room began to spin. He needed to get out, to breathe. He turned and stumbled back to the bedroom, the weight of everything pressing down on him.
