He ran a hand through his hair, leaving it standing on end. It was the end of the day, and the news from The Golden Dragon hadn't even registered until now. All the accumulated tension of the day threatened to spill over. He’d been relying on that place. The closing. Just…closing. He pictured the dim lighting, the familiar faces of the staff, the way the spicy noodles always managed to soothe him.

He slammed his fist on the table, making the cheap particleboard vibrate. The thought of losing his Friday night sanctuary was making him feel a bit off-kilter. He wanted to scream. Instead, he took a deep breath, trying to regain control. Then, he got up, grabbed his coat, and walked out the back door into the cold night air. The city lights blurred through his teary eyes.
