The news felt like a physical blow. When Mark saw the announcement on the diner's Facebook page, his breath hitched. His shoulders slumped, the weight of the day suddenly intensified. He hadn’t realized how much he depended on "Grub's Up", the greasy spoon that offered up a reliable comfort. The thought of no longer being able to get his favorite burger every Tuesday made his lip tremble.

He swiveled around in his chair, staring out the window. The cityscape seemed to mock him. He balled his fists, the knuckles turning white. He thought of all the mornings he'd spent at Grub's Up, nursing a coffee and reading the newspaper, all the conversations he'd had with the friendly waitress. What would he do now?
