He stared at the email, his eyes narrowed. The bright screen seemed to throb, reflecting back his frustration. “The Spice Route,” closing? That little haven of flavor, closing? He'd always known, in the back of his mind, that his favorite little Indian restaurant was a lifeline. Now, that lifeline was being cut. He felt a wave of nausea wash over him.

He slammed his fist against the desk, the impact sending a jolt up his arm. The world seemed to shrink, the edges blurring. He stood up, pacing back and forth, muttering under his breath. He needed to do something, anything. He grabbed his coat, the fabric feeling rough against his skin, and stormed out the door.
