Gemotions

The phone call from his old friend, Mark, confirming the reunion, sealed it. He ended the call quickly, a feeling of constraint gripping his chest. His breathing became shallow. He felt as if someone had placed a heavy weight on his shoulders.

He began staring at the ceiling, trying to calm his racing thoughts. He considered not going, of just ghosting the entire thing. But a part of him, that small, insecure part, wanted to prove something.

He tried to focus on his work, but his mind kept wandering back to the reunion. He felt a wave of nausea, and he suddenly excused himself from his desk to pace his small office.
