The world felt too loud, too bright. Her teeth ground together, and she could feel the tension radiating from her jaw. The toddler was having a meltdown, the sink was full of dirty dishes, and the report was due by the end of the day. And then there was the box.

It was addressed to "J. Peterson." She didn't recognize the name. She had only moved in a month ago. She eyed the package with a flicker of resentment. Something else to add to the already impossible list. She was desperate for just one moment of quiet.

She kicked the box aside, but the action didn't help. It just made her focus more on her inability to find any peace. She knew she should probably see about returning it, but just the idea made her feel like she might explode.
