Gemotions

The drive was longer than usual, the traffic a snarling beast. Liam gripped the steering wheel so tightly his knuckles were white. He flipped through the radio stations, searching for something, anything, to distract him, to drown out the internal clamor. Nothing worked.

He reached the end of the road, and the house came into view. He felt a lump form in his throat, a heavy, suffocating thing. It was even worse than he expected. He closed his eyes.

He didn’t want to get out of the car. He didn’t want to see it, to face the reality. He stayed there for several minutes, just breathing.
