The phone vibrated incessantly on the nightstand, each buzz a spike of annoyance. Leo stared at the ceiling, sleep elusive. His record label was demanding a new hit, and the creative well had run dry. He felt a constant, dull ache behind his eyes.

He put on his headphones, and a song began. It was a cover version of his, with a female singer. He listened, anger bubbling up inside him. This was not how he had imagined it. His stomach churned. It felt like something had been stolen from him.
