He stared at the blurry snapshot, the room spinning slightly. The impending divorce, the constant bickering with his sister… everything felt overwhelming. He needed to escape, even for a moment. He hadn't expected this in his late grandmother's attic.

The photos depicted his grandfather. A man, he’d been told, who was never without his pipe, a paragon of virtue. This man, however, seemed to be enjoying himself in the company of a woman who was definitely not his grandmother.

A man with a carefree smile, a bottle of wine, a knowing look. The photographs felt like a betrayal. His fists clenched as he tried to contain his reaction.
