Gemotions

The emergency light cast a sickly yellow glow on the faces of the two trapped coworkers. She felt a familiar pressure in her chest, a squeezing sensation that made it difficult to draw a deep breath. She kept trying, gasping like a fish out of water. Her upcoming marriage. She felt unprepared.

He had promised her, but a nagging voice whispered about doubt. She should have said no. She should have broken things off. Now, she was trapped. Trapped in a literal box, and trapped in an arrangement she was no longer sure she wanted.

"Everything will be fine," her coworker, Tom, said, his voice hollow. She just turned away, unable to meet his gaze, the thought of what she would have to do in the future, filled her with dread.
