He sat at the bar, nursing a drink he didn't even taste. The bartender’s casual chatter grated on his nerves. The half-sister, the letter, the sudden shift in his life – it was too much. Frank fiddled with the straw in his glass, his fingers restless. He felt a familiar hollowness in his chest, a deep ache that he couldn't soothe.
