The world seemed to be closing in around Chloe. The constant noise of the construction outside her apartment window was adding to her edginess, amplifying the agitation that had taken hold. A knot of tension formed in her shoulders, forcing her to shift every few minutes. A colleague had shared a link to a blog post, a post that echoed her own project's premise.

She clicked on it, her breath catching in her throat. The narrative style, the angle, the data points…it was all frighteningly similar. She had barely managed to work her way past the introduction when she abruptly stood, her hands trembling.

“No, no, no,” she whispered, pacing her tiny living room. The blood was roaring in her ears, her palms were clammy. She felt a need to break something. She gripped the edge of her kitchen counter, fighting the urge to shatter the dishes stacked nearby.
