“Another day, another fire to put out,” muttered Kevin under his breath. He hated the constant demands, the endless emails. He’d barely had time to eat lunch. His phone buzzed - a link to a competitor's presentation.

He clicked it open, his pulse quickening. The structure, the arguments…they were all eerily familiar. The same data, the same conclusions, the same visual aids. He felt a hot flush crawl up his neck, his palms becoming slick with sweat.

“Impossible,” he mumbled. He ran a hand through his hair, leaving it standing on end. He felt trapped, cornered. The world narrowed to the confines of his desk, the screen, and the devastating realization that he was not alone.
