Rain lashed against the windows, mirroring the chaotic churn in Amelia’s stomach. Bills lay scattered across the kitchen table, each one a fresh assault on her dwindling bank account. Her neighbor, Mr. Henderson, with his meticulously trimmed hedges and perpetually spotless car, always seemed to glide through life with an effortless grace. Then, last week, she saw the movers. A grand piano, antique furniture, and crates marked "Fragile: Art" were being unloaded into his modest-looking bungalow. A cold dread settled in her bones.
