The phone rang again. Another client complaining, another deal falling through. Elias slumped against the counter, his shoulders slumping. He rubbed his temples, trying to ward off the throbbing pain. The flowers were delivered moments later. A riot of color, a mix of exotic orchids and vibrant tulips.

He squinted at them. He knew no one who would send flowers. His phone buzzed again, a low, persistent hum. He ignored it. He felt the edges of his vision starting to darken. He ran to the sink, desperate for a glass of water.
