The first page sat open on the kitchen counter, taunting. "Evelyn, The Unseen Architect." The title alone filled her with a sense of ill-defined rage. Evelyn clenched her fists at her side, the edges of the book's cover digging into her skin.

She poured herself a cup of black coffee, her hand shaking slightly. The book seemed to imply she was some sort of recluse, some quiet creature that lived in the shadows. Pure and utter nonsense.

She would not be diminished. She would not be pigeonholed. Taking a long sip of her coffee, her gaze hardened. She had spent a lifetime building a life she cherished, and she would not let this book, this… imposition, define her.
