The sales floor buzzed with activity, a cacophony of ringing phones and hurried conversations. Michael kept his focus on his computer, pointedly avoiding eye contact with the new recruit, a bubbly woman named Jessica.

She had to have all of the answers. He knew that already.

“So, how do you handle a client who wants a discount?” Jessica asked, her voice bright.

“Depends.” He kept his tone minimal. “Read the policy. It's pretty straightforward.” He leaned back in his chair, seemingly more interested in watching the other employees navigate the chaotic world of sales than in providing any help.
