The email arrived like a punch to the gut. Accused. The word seemed to pulsate in front of her eyes, blurring the other words on the screen. Panic clawed at her throat.

A wave of dizziness washed over her. She knew, with a certainty that burned like fire, that the allegations were incorrect. She’d crafted the essay herself, burning the midnight oil in pursuit of the perfect work.

She started writing a response, but deleted it all. She wouldn't bend to their pressure, not one bit. She slammed her laptop shut. They'd have to deal with her, and her refusal to budge.
