Gemotions

A muscle in Sarah’s jaw twitched as she listened to the coach's explanation. She barely acknowledged his words, her focus entirely on her own internal monologue. She looked at the other athletes. They were celebrating; they were excited. She felt nothing but a cool, detached resentment.

She turned and left. Instead of heading home, she drove straight to the training facility, her hands gripping the wheel. She entered the empty gym, the silence amplifying the thrumming in her ears. She set up her equipment. She was going to train, and she was going to train until she collapsed.
