He'd built his reputation on authenticity and simplicity. The reviewer's words were a direct challenge to his core philosophy. He would not compromise. Not even slightly.

He spent the next few days in the restaurant, observing the clientele, the staff, the space. He watched everything, but didn't actually listen to anything. He refused to consider the customer’s complaints or adjust his prices. Instead, he made the plates larger.

Chen decided to show off his skill more. He tweaked the menu, adding complex, time-consuming dishes that would showcase his talent. The restaurant was soon buzzing with activity. And, because Chen ignored all advice to change, he found his restaurant was even more popular.
